Pastor's Message
Salem Church is a kind of like an old leather overstuffed sofa. There's comfort there, and also a challenge. It's old enough to have a history, but new enough to be in style. It's not quite like any other sofa and could never be replicated. It was copied from sofas gone before and sofas have been copied from it. All it's stories can never be told, but the ones that are told are always interesting. It offers a valuable - even a needed - service, and does it with style.
I come from another part of the country and from different ethnic and ecclesiastical traditions. What I've found at Salem United Church of Christ is a group that wants to know where God is leading us. I've found, at Salem United Church of Christ, a group that enthusiastically gathers to worship and enjoys what it's doing. I've found, at Salem United Church of Christ, a group that is comfortable in it's own skin, but wants to know more about God's will. This is a people of Purpose, Praise and Peace.
All folks can find out where they've been. Not all folks are daring enough or settled enough to be willing for God to lead them into their futures, which are unknown. Salem United Church of Christ is willing to search for what tomorrow will bring - a people willing to grow into new tomorrows. Salem United Church of Christ studies hard to discern God's will for it.
Salem United Church of Christ is a people who are covenanted to walk together in all God's ways, known and to be made known.
